Map Ives - Director (right)
Map Ives works as an environmentalist and has nearly 40 year of experience in the wildlife industry. He is a past Chairman of the Botswana Rhino Management Committee and has been involved with the Botswana rhino project since its inception in 2001. As a citizen of Botswana Map was one of the first professional wildlife guides to be licensed in Botswana. His knowledge of the area is widely recognized and has led him to be part of the teams that develop conservation policies in the Okavango Delta and other wilderness areas of Northern Botswana. Map is the founding member of the Botswana Rhino Management Committee formed with the Botswana government to protect all rhinos in the country. His work in the tourism industry as the Environmental Director of Wilderness Safaris, Botswana, and his willingness to work with the government, scientists and conservation groups has earned him recognition and resulted in him being appointed Chairman of the Moremi Game Reserve Management Committee by the Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism. The Moremi Game Reserve is at the core of the Okavango Delta and is where the rhinos have been and will continue to be released. Map formed Rhino Conservation Botswana as an effort to raise funds to monitor these new rhino populations and secure their future.
